*I have my Mac Mini mounted with sticky-backed velcro to the bottom of my DP, out of sight. It's completely silent, speedy as heck, and no clicks, pops, or ANY kind of minor audio artifacts I've eventually had to deal with on the Intel MBPs.

If they were to come out with an M2 with 32gb of ram, I'd be tempted to upgrade to that and just have a really future-proof system (for a few years, anyway). I'm basically out of space on my laptop now, though, so I will likely have to upgrade if I want to keep both the American Concert D and a VSL library on the same machine. I can run it through Garageband with Musescore open and it still seems to play fine for the most part.

The Synthogy American Concert D, though, seems to run pretty light on my 2017(ish?) Macbook Pro with 8gb ram and 256gb hard drive. But I think that's part of why they're so highly regarded, too. The only one I foresee trying is VSL CFX (or another flavor from Vienna Symphonic), and these have pretty hefty space/RAM requirements.Īgreed, the VSL pianos seem to require a lot of hardware, at least on paper. Now that I know it works *flawlessly*, I can upgrade to a next-gen M1X/M2 mini when they come out, IF I need the horsepower for another VST. Yep, I got the lowest end base spec (8GB, 256GB SSD) and it was an Apple refurb to boot.ġ) This was more of a proof of concept for me, I don't have a huge VST library.Ģ) I was reasonably confident this config would run Garritan CFX, my preferred (and only) VST.
